Rick collected 20th Century Varieties, Indian Cents and Buffalo Nickels. He was born Oct. 3, 1946, in Liberty, Texas. Rick attended Dayton schools, graduated in Victoria in 1965, and received his BA in business from Western Kentucky University in 1973. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966, serving in Korea, returning as a Captain in the Artillery. He served until 1971 when he honorably accepted inactive status. Rick, also known as “Bubba Rip”, had worked for Mercer Transportation as general manager in Louisville, Kentucky and freight agent in Portland, Oregon until 2007. Rick died Tuesday, June 29, 2010 in Beaverton, Oregon. He was survived by his wife, Christie Ripkowski. A Mass of Christian burial was held July 2, 2010, at St. Cecilia Church in Beaverton.
